We offer 4 distinct programs for youth: 1) Didgeridoo Down Under Show: Australian Music, Entertainment & More! (for ages 3-18; adjusted for age level) 2) Aussie Funk Jam: Didgeridoo Workshop! (for ages 6+, especially tweens & teens) 3) Protect the Planet: World Music, Earth Science & Ecological Entertainment! (for ages 5-14, virtual only) 4) Adventures of the Wild Wolf: Children’s Author, Storytelling, Motivational Speaking! (for ages 5-13, virtual only)
“The program has been a HUGE success with all of our sites. Every site director, all of the kids, and even some parents expressed very positive feedback.” – Cory Jackson, Youth Development Director, YMCA of Western North Carolina
The DDU Show is an energetic fusion of Australian music, culture, comedy, character building, stoytelling and audience movement / participation. The didgeridoo has been played by Aboriginal Australians for at least 1,500 years, and it’s known for its otherworldly sound. But DDU is much more than music. It’s interactive, educational, motivational and super fun for all ages!
“What do you get with 180 little ‘roos in the room, and an amazing performer? MAGIC!” – Marianne Bower, Community Education Specialist, Charleston County Parks & Recreation, SC
During the show, we play an assortment of exotic didgeridoos and worldly percussion instruments. We also use a multitude of props – artifacts, artwork, puppets, motivational signs and more – to deliver educational lessons and empowering messages. The program is very participatory, and several segments involve kids playing instruments, dancing or acting out a story!
Aussie Funk Jam Workshop Another favorite kids’ program is our Aussie Funk Jam, in which we teach how to play the didgeridoo with our beginner instruments. The Aussie Funk Jam is hands-on, cool, funky and unique – ideal for teens and tweens, but OK for ages 8 and up. It’s a perfect complement to the DDU show!
